New Eye & Vision Products

This page is dedicated to exploring new eye care products that our editors have noticed and a little review on each of them. We do not promote any of the items here but provide them for our visitors to browse their curiosity.

Bausch & Lomb

At the American Optometric Association’s annual meeting in Salt Lake City in June of 2011, Bausch & Lomb announced and unveiled their newest contact lens. Amongst other products unveiled, the new lens called the PureVision2 HD, stole the show. According to the manufacturer, the PureVision2 HD contact lens offers crisp, clear vision in low-light and helps to reduce halos and glare. They also suggest the new lens could be one of the thinnest contact lenses on the market today.

Coopervision

Bausch & Lomb were not the only manufacturers to unveil a new type of contact lens to the market at the American Optometric Association’s annual meeting in June of 2011. Coopervision also introduced their new contact lens called the Biofinity Multifocal lens.

According to the company, not only will the new lens compliment the existing products in the Biofinity collection, but it will also benefit the eye care industry and patients alike. A representative of Coopervision explained “collaborating with the practitioners who work directly with lens wearers every day and understanding that every eye is unique – that’s how we’re able to bring outstanding new products to market time and again.” Apparently, the new lenses were developed through correspondence with eye care professionals. Together, they combined the Biofinity Asphere and Toric lens material with proven Balanced Progressive technology to create the new lenses.

Cocoons: 3D Eyewear

Cocoons is a leading brand of optical sunglasses specifically designed to be worn over prescription eyeglasses. In May of 2011, they released 7 new sizes for their Clip-Ons collection to accommodate the increase in prescription eyeglass frame styles that feature the ‘A’ measurement. With the addition to the collection, Cocoon’s Clip-Ons now come in 49 shapes/sizes that allow an effortless conversion of eyeglasses to sunglasses. For only $34.95 (suggested retail value), each clip-on includes a protective hard case and a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty. EyeEco

Eye and Vision Products

EyeEco is a California based corporation that has a product that is used to moisturize dry eyes. This is not done just by using normal eye drops but rather by their product tranquileyes. This process involves wearing moisture pads that are held in place by eye goggles. This seems like a pretty inventive product if it works. It seems small enough to pack in your luggage on business trips. Hopefully we can get a trial set sometime soon. For more information on this process visit http://www.eyeeco.com/
